2020 Pelago, Umani Ronchi
The name Pelago, deriving from pelagos, meaning ‘sea’ in ancient Greek, suggests its marine character and aromas which are typical of wines produced near the coast. A blend of Montepulciano with Cabernet Sauvignon, it is a wine that retains the style and personality of the indigenous Montepulciano while broadening its aromatic profile and complexity by adding qualities of the Bordeaux style.
"This has an array of sour cherries, bark, walnuts and plums on the nose. It’s medium- to full-bodied with well-integrated tannins and a savory finish. Focused and composed. Drink or hold." James Suckling
