2010 Saint Veran Les Rochats, Domaine de la Croix Senaillet
"Readers with good memories, or perusing the Wine Advocate database as they read this, will be aware how much I admire the wines of Domaine de la Croix Senaillet. Whenever somebody asks me who makes the best Saint-Véran, then it is here. I had visited the domaine two or three times and tasted with winemaker Richard Martin (no relation) and so it was so pleasing to return and find that quality had not slipped one jot. He is a very meticulous winemaker, unswerving in his application of biodynamics in the vineyard, certified by ECOCERT since the 2012 vintage. There is a mixture of demi-muids and stainless steel, depending on the cuvée that is mostly split across some of Saint-Véran's finest terroirs. Check out their fabulous wines from lieux-dits such as "Sur la Carriere" and "Les Rochats" to witness the heights that can be achieved in this appellation that is always overshadowed by Pouilly-Fuissé. There is also a non-sulfur bottling and, to be frank, I preferred the version with SO2, but at least consumers have the choice. If you have not discovered the joys of Croix Senaillet, then it is time to do so." Neal Martin, The Wine Advocate, August 2017
