2015 Gruner Veltliner Weitenberg, Veyder Malberg
"From 63-year-old vines on gneiss and mica schist, the 2015 Grüner Veltliner Weissenkirchner Weitenberg is deep, complex and mineral on the nose, perfectly ripe and intense, but still characterized by its long lees aging in oak which adds further complexity but still masks the wine a little bit. A burgundy glass would probably help to get the components better together. The fresh attack on the palate is followed by a rich and juicy, very intense fruit of great precision and finesse. The finish is clear and piquant, lovely fresh and also characterized by the intensity of the old vines. Lingering salinity in the finish. Keep this wine for a couple of years because its potential is huge. Drink 2019-2030." The Wine Advocate, Jun 2016
