2014 Fixin VV, Domaine Denis Mortet

"The 2014 Fixin Vieilles Vignes is a blend of two vineyards at the north and south of the appellation: brawny and elegant expressions of Pinot Noir respectively. The vines here are between 60- and 70-years-old and this vintage is matured in 20% new oak. The nose is lively with blood orange infusing the brambly red fruit, quite feisty with a touch of peppermint. The palate is succulent on the entry -- tart red cherries with tangy marmalade, attenuating slightly towards the finish that curtails the persistence. Otherwise this is very fine.
